Aakaash Special School celebrated Vannangal, its 21st Annual Day, on April 26, 2019, at MS Chellamuthu Gardens, a psycho social rehabilitation centre for persons with mental disabilities run by MS Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation (MSCT&RF) at Alagar Kovil, Madurai.
Aakaash special children welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. K.B. Piramanayagam, District Differently Abled Welfare Officer (DDAWO), Madurai.
Mr. M. Ramu, Senior Consultant, MSCT&RF, welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest and expresse3d his heartfelt gratitude for the support given by the government schemes.
Aakaash Special School Principal Mrs. T. Buvaneswari presented the Annual Report (2018-2019).
Aakaash students entertained the audience with their splendid cultural performances that included Bharatanatyam, folk dance, Western Dance, solo Dance and yoga.
Mrs. R. Rajkumari, Executive Director, MSCT&RF, felicitated and spoke about the way Aakaash originated with the true story of Mrs. Saroja whose lived experience of being a parent of a special child spurred the formation of Aakaash.
The Chief Guest Mr. K.B. Piramanayam DDAWO, delivered his special address and appreciated the performance of our special children. He also appreciated the quality serviced being rendered by MSCTRF and assured his sustained support through the government schemes. He motivated parents to give full support to the staff team for the development of the children.
Around 170 participants that included parents of Aakaash students, SHARE volunteers, members of SUBITCHAM-Family Fellowship, well wishers, consultants of MSCT&RF, and mental health professionals from all units of the trust participated.
The function was hosted vibrantly by Mr. Muniyasamy, Social Worker, MSCT&RF.
