As part of the Residents Social Responsibility (RSR) initiative, Aravind Eye Care Systems, Madurai, supported by the Low Vision Aid team and Orbis Project team, in collaboration with MSCT&RF, organised an eye camp for the children of Aakaash Special School and staff members of MSCT&RF on March 21, 2019, at MS Chellamuthu Gardens, Alagar Koil, Madurai.
The staff team lead by Dr. Maheshwaran other senior residents, technicians and staff nurses distinguished themselves by their dedication and devotion. They thus proved that they are from Padmashree Dr. G. Venkataswamy school of service for a cause.
Forty-one children and 50 staff members of the trust benefited from this camp. Spectacles were provided free of charge for deserving children with special needs. As a collaborative initiative, we also plan to conduct Low Vision Function Assessment and Cognation Visual Response Stimulation for the children of Aakaash Special School.
Dr. N. Venkatesh Prajana accompanied by a team of ophthalmologists from UK: Dr. Maghizh, Dr. Baliean Dhillon and Dr.Bertie Surgith Fernando keenly observed the activities of the trust and highly appreciated this joint initiative.
The RSR team from Aravind was sensitized about key mental health issues and also went around the campus and observed the various activities of the trust.
