As a part of vocational training, people with mental illness who had recovered were involved in baking and packing of bakery products at the Bakery unit at Bodhi, M.S. Chellamuthu Gardens, Madurai.
Twenty persons were actively engaged with the support of Mr. Balakrishanan, a baker by profession. The Rotary Club of Carmarthen, UK and Rotary Club of Madurai, North,provided the oven, egg beater and vegetable cutting machine.
The president and senior members of Rotary Club of Madurai North formally handed over the equipment to the trainees on June 22, 2017 at M.S.Chellamuthu Gardens. The members interacted with our trainees and appreciated our work.
With the new equipment we can create tasty cakes and cookies that meet the highest standards of professional excellence and quality. Around 10-12 recovered persons with mental disabilities will run the bakery with standards of professional excellence expected of such initiatives.
