Dr.S.Vijayakumar, IAS, Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Department, Govt of TamilNadu, visited the Skill Development Project on Dairy Farming on 10.06.2015.
The three months skill development project on “ Empowerment of Recovered Persons of Mental Illness through Dairy Farming activity in Madurai District “ was held on 28th March 2015 at M.S.Chellamuthu Gardens, Ayyuthampatti Village, Alagarkovil, Madurai. It is a joint initiative of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu Pudhu Vaazhvu Project, Chennai, Mahindra Consulting Engineer Ltd, Chennai and M.S.Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation.
Dr.S.Vijayakumar, was accompanied by Dr. R. Gopinath, Joint Director of Animal Husbandry, Madurai, Dr.C. Ramasubramanian, State Nodal Officer, District Mental Health Programme, Madurai and Dr.B.Pannai Muruganandan, Professor & Head, Veterinary University Training & Research Centre, Madurai.
Dr.S.Vijayakumar ,IAS, with keen interest interacted with the persons (20) with mental disabilities , who are undergoing this skill training programme. Trainees happily shared their experience as ‘learning by doing’ and this training would give them more self confidence to enter in to the main stream society. He also appreciated the entire team for the successful ongoing training.
